Projects with Hadassah Medical Center

Doctors of the Future Joint Teaching Program (l. to r.): Dr. Omar Abdel Dayem, Professor Saul Merrin (Hadassah Medical Center), Dr. Bashar Jaber
The Hospital continues to improve relations with its Israeli neighbors. Before the establishment of the state of Israel, many Jewish persons, including the Grand Rabbi of Jerusalem, received treatment at The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital.
One project that promotes cooperation is The Doctors of the Future Joint Teaching Program, which began several years ago as a joint project between the St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital and the world-renowned Hadassah Medical Center (www.hadassah.org). This project builds bridges between Israeli, Palestinian and Western medical professionals, training Palestinian doctors who will profoundly impact the future well-being of the region.
Initial efforts are also underway with an Israeli hospital, near Tel Aviv, where Palestinians and Christians are welcomed. In the future, the St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital might help to provide ophthalmic care.
