The Priories, Commanderies and St John Associations generally carry out their charitable activities, which include first aid and first aid training, ambulance and rescue services, home-based care, maternal, newborn and child health care and hospitals and care homes for the elderly under the name of St John or St John Ambulance.

Specialized care activities have been developed to meet specific needs in different countries. These include a kidney dialysis service in Malaysia and a therapy pets program in Canada.

St John is also a major organization for the training and development of young people.

The Johanniter Order

A partnership of 16 national charity organizations in Europe and the Middle East. Member organization provide national and international activities such as Emergency Medical Services, First Aid, Social Care, Youth Work and International Assistance, and services for old, poor and disabled people in need.

The Orders of St John in Sweden and the Netherlands

Sovereign Order of Malta (SMOM)

Working in the field of medical and social care and humanitarian aid, in over 120 countries, they are supported by the diplomatic relations it currently has with 104 nations.

The Order also runs hospitals, medical centers, day hospitals, nursing homes for the elderly and the disabled, and special centers for the terminally ill. In many countries the Order's volunteer corps provide first aid, social services, emergency and humanitarian interventions.
